Collision action - Claimants' container vessel colliding with Indian warship in entrance to port of Mumbai - Claimants bringing proceedings in England against another container vessel contending that collision caused by negligence of defendant vessel and three Indian warships - Union of India not party to English proceedings - Whether court could apportion liability between all vessels at fault

On 30 January 2011 the claimants’ container vessel Nordlake narrowly avoided a collision with the defendants’ container vessel Seaeagle in the entrance to the port of Mumbai but very shortly thereafter collided with the Indian warship Vindhyagiri. On 23 February 2011 a claim was brought in the Indian courts by the Union of India, the owners of Vindhyagiri, against the owners of Nordlake.
