FISMA responsibilities

The Directorate General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Market Union (DG Fisma) is a new section of the European Commission. Many of its activities were previously carried out by the Directorate General for Internal Markets, especially accounting and audit. We are reproducing below the organisation chart which is on the DG Fisma website, to show what areas of Commission policy now come under the new organisation. Although it will take a certain amount of time for re-organisation to be worked out in full, it appears that DG Fisma will in future occupy the offices that have for many years been the location for DG Markt. This means that for accounting and audit staff they have a new structure and a new Commissioner, but actually continue to sit at the same desks.
