Death Master: South Dakota-based firms pay out $3.3m

US: South Dakota-based Midland National Life Insurance and its North American Co for Life and Health Insurance affiliate have agreed to pay $3.3m to settle the multi-state investigation into life assurers’ misuse of the Social Security Administration’s Death Master File (DMF), Florida insurance commissioner, Kevin McCarty, has announced.
