Low cat losses in 2009 threatens year-end rates, Aon

The property market experienced only a mild hardening in rates during the first half of 2009 despite heavy losses last year

Results for US property insurers in the first half of 2009 have been positive for most carriers with higher prices and low losses, but the casualty market remains soft and competitive with low rate decreases resulting in lower premiums for many insureds, according to a new survey.
