£3.5mn damages for car crash victim

A man who was severely injured when he was hit by a car while walking along a road has been awarded £3.5mn damages. He suffered severe brain damage as a result of skull fractures, and also broke his pelvis and right ankle, and he now requires constant care. The damages were agreed in a settlement on the basis of 50/50 liability, against the insurers of the motorist involved.
