Cargo owners bring proceedings in Canada and then arrest vessel in Greece - Whether Canadian action should be stayed pending decision whether to sue in Canada or Greece

The plaintiff cargo owners brought proceedings in Canada in respect of damage to a shipment of bailer twine carried from Brazil to Toronto onboard the defendants’ vessel Lara S . The plaintiff’s statement of claim was filed on 28 April 1989 and a defence was filed on 9 September 1990.
