Jadranska Slobodna Plovidba v. Gulf Shipping Lines Ltd. (The Matija Gubec) - Q.B.D. (Com.Ct.) (Staughton J.) - 25 May 1982

Time charter - Vessel redelivered late - Whether last voyage legitimate

By a charterparty on the NYPE form, charterers hired the vessel Matija Gubec for one Far East voyage with an option to take the vessel for 12 months, “45 days more or less”, and a second option, to extend the first period by further 12 months, “45 days more or less”. The charterers exercised both options and the period of two years, 45 days was due to expire on 22 January 1975.
