Bowman moves to Lloyd’s aviation syndicate 5555
By Jonathan Rest
LLOYD’S newest syndicate, Emilio Di Silvio 5555, is today welcoming its latest recruit, writes Jonathan Rest.
John Bowman moves to the aviation-only syndicate, which operates as a sub-syndicate of 2999 within Australian insurer QBE’s Lloyd’s managing agency Limit.
In his new position, Bowman will be an airline underwriter at 5555, and his switch to QBE sees him team up once again with active underwriter Di Silvio, whom he worked with at both Allianz and Cox, and Ken Limber, formerly of Westminster Aviation Insurance Group, which was bought by Allianz.
The Emilio Di Silvio syndicate launched last Monday, a month ahead of schedule, and will write a broad portfolio of global aviation business, encompassing general aviation, airlines, products and airport business through Lloyd’s boxes 125, 131 and 133.
* Elsewhere in the aviation insurance industry, Bermudian reinsurance start-up Flagstone Re has teamed up with Sirius International Insurance, a subsidiary of White Mountains, to underwrite aviation reinsurance.
Mario Montelatici, of the Sirius Zurich office, will under-write excess of loss aviation reinsurance business on behalf of Flagstone Re. He starts work with immediate effect.
Flagstone Re’s insurance financial strength is rated A- by AM Best, while Sirius International Insurance is rated A and A- by Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s respectively.
