Salvage - Vessel floated off after stranding - Determination of salvage award

This was a hearing to determine the proper amount of a salvage award to compensate Canadian Salvage its owners and crew for salvaging the vessel Trade-Up from a strand on Beckwith Island in Georgian Bay. Canadian Salvage became involved at about 8.30 am on a Sunday morning, when its owners spoke with the owner of Trade-Up by mobile telephone while Canadian Salvage was at Western Islands. Canadian Salvage arrived at the location of the strand at about 10.00 am. There were only inches of water at Trade-Up ’s bow and less than two feet at the stern.
