Crown River Cruises Ltd v Kimbolton Fireworks Ltd - QBD (Admlt Ct) (Potter J) - 27 February 1996
Tort - Whether action in nuisance maintainable by owner of floating vessel
During the course of a fireworks display organised by the first defendant close to the River Thames burning debris caused
a small fire on a floating barge owned by the plaintiffs, which were moored in the Thames. The fire was attended to by the
second defendant, the London Fire and Civil Defence Authority. Later the same evening, another of the plaintiffs’ vessels,
a passenger vessel, returned to moor alongside the floating barge. Several hours later fire broke out on that vessel and substantial
damage was also caused to the barge.
