A Introduction

12.1 Chapter 11 provides an overview of the background to and principles governing indemnity clauses in offshore construction contracts. This chapter will provide practical guidance on the indemnity clauses one typically expects to find in offshore construction contracts, the purpose of such clauses and how they can vary. We also address how contractors limit their risk by including aggregate caps on their liability and by reference to the Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims.
