International Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Relating to Penal Jurisdiction in Matters of Collision or Other Incidents of Navigation, 1952
1 INTRODUCTION
This Convention, the draft of which had been prepared by the CMI, was adopted by the ninth session of the Conférence Internationale de Droit Maritime on 10 May 1952, concurrently with the parallel Convention on Civil Jurisdiction and the Convention on Arrest of Ships. The Convention entered into force on 20 November 1955, only just over three years from its adoption, and there are seventy-two States Parties.1
