A. Introduction

43.001 For many years, European Union (“EU”) law concentrated on ships and shipping services rather than ports. It has redressed the balance in recent years with developments in such areas as the law relating to State aid, electricity, the environment and so on as they relate to ports. The chapter provides a backup for other chapters which explore issues more specifically.
