Generali gets go ahead for INA bid

ROME - The Bank of Italy has given the regulatory go ahead to Generali's offer for Istituto Nazionale delle Assicurazioni (INA), completing the required authorizations for the bid to go forward, Generali said in a statement. Approval from the Bank of Italy, which followed closely on the heels of that of insurance regulator ISVAP, was widely expected given the fact that the central bank's played a major role in getting Generali and bank San Paolo IMI to agree on a compromise to avoid a takeover battle over INA.
