Mike Lacey , of the International Salvage Union, focuses on environmental awards as the Lloyd’s Form passes its centennial landmark

The International Salvage Union (ISU) began publishing annual statistics on salvage activity in 1978. This survey now covers nearly 5,300 salvage operations, more than half of which were performed under Lloyd’s Form contracts. The total salved value recovered in this period – ships, cargos and bunkers – exceeds US$33.5bn.
