HOSPITALS AND INSURERS SHOULD WORK TOGETHER, SAYS RAO

Insurance companies and hospitals should work together to see how the costs of hospital treatment can be reduced, according to CS Rao, chairman of India’s Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority (IRDA). Speaking to locally based business paper Economic Times , Mr Rao observed that in certain areas it was impossible to avoid increasing costs, because medical science was advancing, and improved diagnostic capabilities and quality of treatment would inevitably add to costs.
