CHINA WILL SUPPORT AGRICULTURAL COVER
China will put forward policies to encourage the development of agricultural insurance and to provide improved services in
rural areas, reports
Xinhua
, citing unnamed sources within the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC). The regulator noted that the National People’s
Congress had supplied 47 suggestions last year, and 41 from deputies to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference,
with agricultural insurance drawing the most attention. The CIRC said that the deputies believed that China should strengthen
the role of agricultural insurance as a social stabiliser, as well as encouraging the private sector to link with the government
to improve the rural co-operative medical care system. Other proposals included the development of liability insurance in
environmental protection and catering sectors, as well as establishing a medical malpractice insurance system.
