Consolidation of the stockbroking industry

Following its announcement of the Policy Framework for the Consolidation of the Stockbroking Industry on April 21 2000, the Securities Commission held numerous discussions with owners of stockbroking firms to address potential problems that could arise with the expected mergers. These discussions have led to a modification of the merger programme.
