European Financial Services Policy

The European Commission had undertaken a considerable amount of work in anticipation of the completion of the Financial Services Action Plan (FSAP) by end 2005. The FSAP had originally been published by the Commission in May 1999 and endorsed by the Lisbon European Council in March 2000.

With the impending closure of this process, the Commission has been concerned to attempt to assess the progress achieved to date in creating a single European financial market place and to develop a corresponding or supporting policy in the financial services area for the next five years 2005-2010.
