Poor system support may mean a large unbundling bill for fund managers

Excitement, but what about investment?

The fund management world has become excited at the prospect of unbundling, given the new challenges and potential opportunities that it generates. The transparency of fund charges to be introduced as part of the unbundling regulations will introduce a new element of competition that many fund managers can use to attract and retain business. In fact, many fund managers have already begun to address the perceived conflicts within the industry, by reducing their reliance on sell-side research and investing in recruiting teams of in-house researchers, which they see as offering better value for money.
