During the past few years, a number of countries in Asia have been introducing legislation with a view to facilitating securitisation
transactions. This article seeks to highlight the current state of the market, to explain why further legal reforms are still
needed if the region is to match the US and Europe for deal flow, and to suggest which countries are best placed to benefit
from any future developments.
