A number of important regulatory initiatives were taken forward during the last regulatory year. While certain difficulties had arisen at the international, European and United Kingdom levels, a considerable amount of progress was possible in other more minor but still substantial areas. A large amount of continuing work was also carried out in the revision or adjustment of more general supervisory and regulatory practice in each area.
