FSA holds fire on disclosure

Cost analysis rules out mandatory commission disclosure but the FSA keeps option alive

A year-long review into commission disclosures in commercial insurance has concluded that the costs far outweigh the benefits but the Financial Services Authority has stopped short of ruling out the option for mandatory disclosure altogether. Instead, a new consultation will open from the beginning of 2008 “before taking a decision on whether to mandate commission disclosure”, the FSA said.
