EC considers reform of IMD
Changes to the unpopular regime could take place as early as 2008
The Insurance Mediation Directive – which caused controversy across Europe on its implementation (or not in the case of several
member states) in national legislatures – is to be reconsidered by the European Commission just over two years since it was
enacted. On launching a green paper on the integration of retail financial services, the European Commission said it plans
to review the Insurance Mediation Directive, together with its insurance adviser Ceiops, and that the rules could be revised
as early as 2008/9.
