Successful regulation is a vital component of London’s infrastructure and competitive position in financial services, according to new report published by the City of London. The Bourse Consult report, analyzing the competitive impact of London’s financial market infrastructure for international equities, derivatives, foreign exchange and fixed income markets, found that “for a financial centre to be truly credible, it needed to possess a full set of capabilities – if one piece of iconic infrastructure was missing, the perception of the power of the centre would be diminished”.
