EC focus on broker fees

The competition inquiry into business insurance has narrowed its interest

The European Commission’s investigation into business insurance has flagged the use of contingent commissions in the industry as a potential competition issue. Having caused such a stir in the US, it seems that the repercussions of the Spitzer inquiry are now due in Europe and the Commission said it will be one of several areas that will be subject to further investigation in the final stage of the inquiry.
