FSA bans travel insurance broker
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has banned the senior manager of Whiteley Insurance Consultants from regulated activity
after it found the broker had issued thousands of customers with invalid travel insurance. Christopher Whiteley was banned
by the regulator which said he had “demonstrated: a lack of integrity and a failure to act with due, skill, care and diligence
in carrying out your controlled function(s); a failure to be open and co-operative with the Regulator; and failing to comply
with the relevant requirements and standards of the regulatory system”. His business partner, Janice Whiteley, was issued
with a statement of misconduct for failing to meet the standards of an approved person.
