Focus: FSA confronts industry divide in new broker commission review

The industry has had long enough to sort out its differences over commission disclosure, the FSA says, and the regulator is taking control.

It was two years ago that Eliot Spitzer’s investigation into contingent commissions lifted the lid on enough bid-rigging cases to put an end to the practice almost overnight. While the investigation had a major impact on the top global brokers and its ripples were felt throughout the insurance industry the probe remained largely contained in the US.
