EU states disappoint in implementation of rules
Member states have taken a step backwards in their efforts to improve transposition of European Commission directives, according
to the latest figures, and have missed targets to improve implementation of new rules. In February member states reported
their best figures to date with an average rate of 1.6% of directives not transposed into national law on time, nearing the
European Commission’s target deficit rate of 1.5%. However, figures for July reveal that member states have slipped back in
their progress with the deficit rate up to 1.9%.
