Foreign regulation of LSE a possibility
Regulation of the London Stock Exchange could conceivably leave UK shores if a multinational takeover or merger were to occur
in the future, said chairman of the Financial Services Authority Callum McCarthy recently. He stressed that while this was
not likely in the short term, a merger or takeover, such as those proposed by Deutsche Börse and more recently Nasdaq, “could
at the extreme involve the LSE no longer being subject to UK regulation”.
