No case for rating agency regulation, Commission says

The European Commission has ruled out any legislative measures against rating agencies two years on since the European Parliament asked the Commission to assess the need for regulatory intervention. The European Commission said it is confident that self-regulation, supplemented by the existing directives applicable to rating agencies and the International Organisation of Securities Commission’s code of practice, is sufficient to address any concerns over the sector harboured by the Parliament.
