Improving strategic agility

As director of Performance Management for Fortis Health, Cathy Jorgensen has long argued for the importance of aligning financial decision-making with corporate strategy. She refers to the immense benefits that could be achieved with more frequent budgeting and reforecasting to reflect behaviours of the marketplace. She believes that insurers, faced with decreasing profit margins and market consolidation, should look to innovative solutions to manage their business better and to meet changing market and customer demands more efficiently. Fortis Health, based in Wisconsin, Milwaukee, focuses on four core markets: individual medical, small group, short-term and student Health Insurance markets.
