Market’s prospects put in perspective by 117.6% combined ratio

The heady sense of optimism inspired by the Reinsurance Association of America’s (RAA) survey of US reinsurers’ statutory results for the first quarter of this year ( WIR 690/4) quickly evaporates in the face of the grim realities detailed in the RAA’s latest survey which covers the US market’s performance for the six months ended 30 June 2002.
