Proposals for establishing private insurance companies in Iran are under consideration, according to a statement by the Iranian High Council for Insurance. The government is taking a fast-track approach. Some 23 licence applications have already been received. With Iran’s World Trade Organization membership at stake, private insurers are expected to start operating in April.
