• Truck hijacking in Colombia fell by 41% during 2001, according to the latest figures released by the police. The value of hijacked commercial goods amounted to Col$55.3bn (US$24.8mn) in 2001, 34% less than in 2000. Last year Colombian police recovered stolen cargo worth Col$45.9bn, a rise of 112% in the value of goods recovered in 2000.
