Australia moves to close health gap

Australia’s health minister, Dr Michael Wooldridge, has announced an unprecedented move to ensure Australians using their private health insurance are no longer hit with surprise medical bills after receiving treatment in hospital. He said the government was moving to close the private health insurance gap. The gap occurs when the patient is billed by the hospital for a fee that exceeds the sum paid to him by his private health insurer.
