New Zealand fleet warned not to go to sea
More than 1,700 New Zealand commercial fishing vessels have been warned they will not be insured if they put to sea before
they replace contaminated diesel fuel. This could leave them tied up for several days while they wait for new clean supplies
to arrive from the refinery. Several boats had engine trouble, which led to at least two disasters, including the loss of
life of crew members, within the space of 10 days. The incidents are being investigated by the New Zealand authorities to
see if contaminated fuel was the cause.
