Chile set to introduce compulsory fire cover
In a surprise announcement on the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Chilean Fire Service – an underfunded force
comprised mainly of volunteers – Chile’s president Ricardo Lagos announced short-term plans to introduce legislation towards
compulsory fire insurance coverage for all urban properties with a value of 150 UF or over.
