Improved prospects for If

After a troubled eight months, things are at last beginning to look up for If. The pan-Nordic insurance joint venture seemed headed for certain disaster when two months ago Finland’s biggest insurer, Pohjola, decided not to join its business with that of Sweden’s Skandia and Norway’s Storebrand. ( WIR643/4 ). Pohjola’s withdrawal has forced everybody to reassess If’s possibilities afresh.
