Woman loses discrimination case over flatulence

A woman has lost a discrimination claim at a tribunal after claiming racial and disability discrimination. The woman, who worked at a university claimed she had been taunted because of her chronic flatulence and was the subject of cruel jokes about her condition. She said she suffered from severe irritable bowel syndrome. Disciplinary proceedings had been started against her because concerns had been raised about the quality of her work and increased sickness absences, the tribunal was told.
