Widow of mesothelioma victim wins damages
The widow of an engineer, who died of an asbestos-related disease, has received £150,000 in compensation. He was exposed to
asbestos whilst lagging the exhaust systems of diesel engines with asbestos rope and asbestos blankets. He died from mesothelioma.
Settlement was reached prior to the claim proceeding to trial. His lawyer said: “This was a claim which was complex in terms
of medical evidence and due to unsuccessful attempts by the defendants to argue that Death in Service benefits received by
the deceased should be set off.”
