£2.7mn in compensation for birth injury

A child who was born with brain damage has been awarded £2.7mn in compensation. Despite the fact that a deceleration of the baby’s heart rate was noted, the mother was discharged. She was readmitted after 48 hours and after a further delay in performing an emergency caesarean section, the child was born with a brain injury leading to evolving cerebral palsy.
