Compensation for slip and trip

A cleaner who slipped in a puddle of water at the shopping centre where she worked has been awarded £3,500 in compensation. She had been asked to place warning cones around puddles, caused by a leaking roof, in order to protect the public. On her way to do this she slipped on a different patch of water and injured her back and shoulder. She was unable to return to work full-time and could suffer from back pain for the rest of her life. The management of the shopping centre had known about the leaking roof for some time but the problem had not been solved.
