Twin receives damages over trauma

A girl whose twin sister died from meningitis after a heart attack, aged three, has been awarded £325,000 in damages. The girl was highly traumatised by the death of her twin, leaving her with a number of health issues including obsessive compulsive disorder. An out-of-hours GP admitted breach of duty but denied causing the girl’s problems. The doctor said the twin with meningitis probably had a flu virus and did not visit the girl.
