Occupier of dwelling liable for injuries sustained by visitor

The court ruled that the occupier of a dwelling was liable under the Occupiers’ Liability Act 1957 for injuries sustained by a visitor. The claimant sought damages from the defendant for damages arising out of an incident in which he suffered an amputation to the top of his right middle finger when he posted a newsletter through defendant’s spring-loaded letterbox.
