Top 10 jury verdicts total US$9bn
According to figures published in the 10 January issue of
Lawyer’s Weekly USA,
the top 10 jury verdicts in 1999 totalled US$9bn, triple the 1998 figure, itself 12 times as high as for 1997. These are awards
made to individuals and exclude class actions or litigation between corporations.
