‘Innocent officers traumatised’

Sir Paul Condon, retiring Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, says the Stephen Lawrence murder and aftermath was ‘also a tragedy for the police service’ in that up to a dozen innocent officers were so traumatised by the Macpherson inquiry into their conduct that they can ‘no longer function as human beings’.
