Equal pay: 13-year backdate

The Canadian government is required to compensate public sector workers for low pay over the last 13 years, following a ruling in the Federal Court of Canada. The Public Service Alliance of Canada, on behalf of around 200,000 members (mostly women) won an order from the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal on similar pay for work judged of equal value. The government appealed but lost. The cost could be as high as C$5bn.
