“Fear of being sued” blamed for volunteer shortage

Girlguiding UK and the Scout Association have reported that there is a shortage of volunteers to run the organisations, at a time when waiting lists were increasing. Girlguiding UK has a waiting list of 50,000 but did not have enough adult volunteers to run weekly meetings, while the Scout Association said that its waiting list had reached 30,000 and it needed an additional 7,500 adult volunteers.
