WBA sues surgeon for £1mn
A surgeon is facing a £1mn compensation claim from West Bromwich Albion Football Club over a player whose career was ended
by surgery. The player suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury, and the knee specialist recommended reconstructive knee surgery.
However, the player never recovered properly after surgery and was forced to retire from the game. He was 27, and had been
signed for £750,000. The club claim that he should never have undergone the surgery. The club lost its initial case, but has
appealed.
